WHO WE ARE
Chosen is a Christ-centered homeschool co-op composed of Moms, Dads, and Educators who have come together with a desire to serve the homeschool community using their gifts and talents to provide classes to supplement each family’s educational journey.
We are a ministry of Calvary Chapel St. Petersburg under the leadership of Children's Pastor Jim O'Connor and seek to show the love of Christ to every person who walks through our doors. We have high standards and guidelines for all participating in Chosen in order to ensure each child the ability to learn in a safe and Christ-like manner.
WHEN WE MEET
We come together twice per year, offering a Spring and Fall semester for children in grades K-12. We meet once per week on Fridays and the classes we offer cover a wide range of topics including science, art, various sports, languages, and more. The Kindergarten class (students must be five years old by September 1) and First Grade class (students aged 6) each have one teacher for the full day, while 2nd grade and above choose from various electives. Each semester offering is a bit different depending on the parent-teachers and educators available and what they are willing to teach. Each semester is 10-11 weeks long, with the Spring semester typically starting at the end of January and the Fall semester starting at the end of August or beginning of September. Our co-op has been undergoing a change in leadership this year, so to give the new leadership team time to get up to speed, we’ll be starting the Spring 2018 semester a bit later than usual – March 9th. The last day of classes will be May 18th.
For the Spring 2018 semester, we plan to offer four class periods:
1st Period: 8:15 am - 9:10 am
2nd Period: 9:15 am - 10:20 am (10 minute snack time during this period)
3rd Period: 10:25 am - 11:20 am
4th Period: 11:25am - 12:20 pm
There is a registration fee of $25 per family per semester.
Grades 2-12 are $30.00 per student for each 55-minute class period. We encourage you to register your 2nd through 12th-grade children for the full day because there are many events or happenings that occur throughout the day that we would not want your child to miss, but this is not required if your child wishes to attend classes for less than a full day.
Kindergarten and First Grade are a full day class and are $150 each. These classes have a full-time teacher and teacher's aide.
We accept cash, checks (payable to Calvary Chapel), and now offer the option to pay online via credit card or direct bank withdrawal (ACH). Tuition balance must be paid by the end of the first day. If additional payment options are needed due to financial hardship or if you have any questions regarding tuition, please contact us by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our co-op is non-profit and therefore relies heavily on parental volunteers to keep the co-op running successfully. Because of this, parents are required to volunteer one day (8:00 am-12:30 pm) during the semester per child attending the co-op (max of 3 days) or pay an opt-out fee.
